"I am not a piece of museum"

Phil Collins over the love for the zeichentrickfilm, young fans and its creative life in Switzerland
For the Titelsong to "Tarzan" it received a OSCAR, now wrote Phil Collins to the sound TRACK to "bear brothers". Even if he withdraws himself slowly from the skirt circus, the Popstar does not see itself on the old person part. Julia storm spoke with it.

What more difficult to write - a Rocksong or is the music for a Disney film?
With a Song I begin with an empty side, while I get a film script with a film given. I know completely exactly, for which moment of history I compose the piece, so that the tonality and contents are already fixed. So seen the letter is easier for the cinema. On the other hand must I mean work with an endless number of people to co-ordinate. With "Tarzan" and "bear brothers" I tinkered therefore four years long each week at the sound TRACK. If you cannot co-operate there with other humans, you should let it rather remain.

You is your artistic liberty not rather?
It is a good experience, because you learn to deal with restrictions. Because "in a nature world plays bear brothers", I could not use modern Synthesizer for example. That is approximately like that, as if you wanted to mix the color green, without using blue and yellow. So a situation promotes your creativity enormously.
Meanwhile you withdrew yourselves to that Geneva lake. Such does an idyll promote also creativity?
All always mean, Switzerland is so boring. My manager had fear, I could work here no longer properly. But the opposite is the case. I wrote here the Musiken for "Tarzan" and "bear brothers" and my album "Testify", which I as one to my best regard. Straight ones I work on the musical version of "Tarzan". It is a plate that one can create art only from chaos and wrong.

But you want to let it obvious concern more calmly. From 2 June to 4 July you complete its parting tour "roofridge final".
I change that into the slow trace, am correct. But that means it only that I would like to make more from at home. Therefore I hung also the playthingplaything plaything provisionally to the nail. Will you write perhaps also your memoirs?
I will not come probably. There are so many false alarms over me. Before a few years wanted someone my Biografie to write and submitted myself a 30-seitiges Treatment. It was gespickt with errors. If I do not correct those, perhaps stands a daily on my gravestone: "it separated from its first wife via fax."

Do you miss the old times, when you played still with genesis?
Not really. I co-operated gladly with my volume colleagues. Mike Rutherford, Tony bank and I see us still frequently; perhaps we make also again something common. But if four people write a Song together, a compromise always comes out thereby. When we became older, each more self-confident its got, in order to say: "that is my idea. Perhaps it is not the best, but I would like to convert it now 1:1, without me someone clean-talks "

Would you want to still times again begin in the today's music business?
Openly confessed, I would not like to be in these days a young musician more. There are so many talentierte people, and therefore they have it the more heavily to be heard. And if they create it, the media fall themselves immediately on it. Our times one could make oneself slowly a name. Today a centralmagnificent hit is already enough, and you land in each TV Show. Therefore also the appearance of the artist is extremely important. And before you provide dich's, the next new star already comes, and you are only snow from yesterday.

A fate, which remained saved for you. Do you have a notion, why your music is still so popular?
Not at all. Perhaps it is a kind of nostalgia. Obviously the recent talents cannot close the creative gap yet. Therefore wars of people like I a chance, as long as they can go. But I would not like of me speak, as if I would be a piece of museum. So old am not I now also again.

How frequently do you sound yourselves today your old Songs from the time with genesis still?
Voluntarily never. It flatters to me that they are present everywhere, but I am a ship, which drives always forward. Which I made in former times, lies behind me. However all fans do not see that in such a way.

Who is your most persistent fan?
My two-year son Nicolas is worst. The none, which interests it for months, is "Daddy Music". He hears everything up and down, "bear brothers", "Testify", even the demo volumes. I write straight at the music
for the "Tarzan" musical, and if I come back into the house, he constantly throws the Disney film in. I flehe it only on: "ability we not times which other one see? As waer's with "finds Nemo '" "?
